Got a question about our plates, 501st Legion Badges or our Official Rebel Legion Merchandise.? Hopefully it will be answered here, but if not simply drop me a line using our contact form. I will update this page with new FAQ’s if the same thing gets asked a lot, so please do check back here before asking a question.


ID BADGES: 501st Legion and Rebel Legion

The rules surrounding 501st Legion merch and ID badges, is that we can only make 501st Legion and unit ID badges once they are re-approved by the unit CS / GMBO and the LMBO each term / year. At the end of each term we have to remove from the ordering system ALL 501st badges, stickers and merch, until they are re-approved again for the new term. All badges currently approved and available are shown here. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and the News & Updates page here for any updates.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Garrison and Unit CS looking to add their logo to the approved list for unit ID badges, please remember that these ID badges DO NOT use up one of your precious ‘merch allocation slots’.

You can have your own Garrison ID badge approved and made available for your members to order without having to give up a patch or shirt or something else. FYI you can only have 1 ID badge design in play though – if you want another badge style made available to your members at the same time that will use up a merch slot.

CO / GMBO / DL / SL: If you had a design that was previously approved, you can simply apply to LMBO to have it re-approved. We will still have the artwork on file here so providing there are no changes to the design and once re-approved we can re-list the badge in the ordering system for your members to order.

CO / GMBO / DL / SL: If you are starting from scratch (i.e. a new ID badge) you need to contact us first with a copy of your logo artwork so that we can sort out a mock for your approval, you can then proceed with the LMBO for full approval.

Sorry no we don’t. The reason being most RL and 501st members already have a lanyard with their Unit, Base or the Rebel Legion or 501st Legion name on it etc.. so we don’t want to confuse things (or raise the price) by adding something to the cards that most people already have. The only lanyards we currently supply are for the UKG.
Possibly yes. We would need to see the logo first as not all official logos will work, especially if they are too complex or detailed. We would need your CO or Merch Officer approval to do this, and it must be for your Garrison or Base members etc.. not just a one off for yourself. We really need a minimum initial order/commitment of 20 or more. Please get your CP, XO or Merch Officer to drop us an enquiry via our contact form.
Sorry people, but this is a big fat no. We have to submit designs for approval to use the official logos and for official merch, clearly detailing the item and what goes on it, and once approved, no deviation from the approved design is permitted. If you are looking for something completely custom without any official Rebel Legion or 501st  logos please send us a custom request via our contact form.

Our site has been designed for individuals to order their ID badges, and also managed group/bulk orders (single payment and delivery to a single address) for Garrisons and Bases for up to 20 ID badges in one order, as Postage & Packing is calculated on the total weight of your order, not per item.

If you are a member of an RL Base or 501st Garrison and wish to discuss a bulk order for more than 20 ID badges, or for 30 or more kit box discs, coasters etc... please contact me directly to discuss this.

KIT BOXES

Sorry no we don’t. We only design, make and supply the actual custom plates for you to fit to your own kit box. The storage boxes and and tool chests are available from most DIY stores, online stores, tool suppliers, and some home supply stores.
As we are UK based we generally use ‘Imperial Gallons’ (no pun intended) and not the US version for our capacity measurement. For example the Stanley 50 gallon / 225 ltr box is correct. We also take our specification details from the kit box manufacturers websites, and for simplicity they do round up/down for a rounder (cleaner) number.

KIT BOX PLATES

Yes you can. The option to have one of the official logos we’ve been approved to use is your choice. You do not have to have them incorporated into you plate design on any of the approved plate sets. Many people just have generic images such as imperial cogs, swans, and costume icons etc… Click here to see the current list.
Sorry no. We have to submit designs for approval to use the official logos, and for one off plates it is not really viable. The 501st, Rebel Legion, and various Garrison, Squad and Base logos are all copyright and we are not allowed to use them without permission or approval.
By all means yes. Your best bet is to contact us via our contact form and give us the details of the plate set you want (or custom sizes) and what you are looking to have engraved on them and we’ll get back to you.
Yes you can. Your best bet is to contact us via our contact form and give us the details and we’ll get back to you. As you are not requiring official 501st, Rebel Legion, Base or Garrison logos we can make any plate or plate set you want.
As such yes. We have listed our current library of generic character/helmet/head/cap icons we’ve drawn for the most popular costumes and for plates we have already made. We are constantly adding to the library of icons that we draw up as and when required (and when time allows!). If you need an icon drawing up for a plate and it is a standard character, we will do this and add it to the library of icons.  You can view the current icons available HERE. You can request a custom / new icon to be drawn up HERE.

These are just suggestions, and not a restriction within the 501st or Rebel Legion design approval process. If you want a black/white plate for your Vader box or a brushed stainless steel-look/black for your Trooper kit, no problem. Plate finish is a personal choice and not locked in to a particular design.

Laminate is a layered material comprising of 2 sheets of different coloured materials (a top colour and a base colour). The top colour is engraved though, to reveal the base colour. Colours are shown as the TOP colour first + the BASE colour. So..

  • Brushed Stainless steel-look/Black has a metal-look material as the top colour and black as the base. The finished plate would be brushed metal-look with black engraved detail.
  • White/Black has white as the top colour and black as the base. The finished plate would be white with black engraved detail.
  • Black/White has black as the top colour and white as the base. The finished plate would be black with white engraved detail.
Potentially yes. The premium laminate product we use is available in a fairly wide range of colour options, but it is limited to a point. It is not a printed product so you do not have 1,000’s (or even 1,00’s) of colour choices, but there are a number of non-standard 2 colour options available to order. Please note that as we have to buy in whole sheets there maybe additional cost to you to cover this. You can request a custom colour material HERE.
Sorry no. As part of our approval process for use with official logos, and for production speed, the design is fixed as is. It would slow down the process of turning our plates around so quick from production-to-dispatch (which we have become know for!) so requesting different fonts would as such be classed as a custom job. Yes you can. These would be custom plates but please note you would not be allowed to have the official 501st, Rebel Legion, Base or Garrison logos engraved on these plates.
Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control we reserve the right to update a logo, graphic or product, and add or even remove a design or item from the range without prior notice, due to updates and/or changes made available to us from the 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, and/or our raw material suppliers.

ORDERING

This is how we (and our system) communicates your order status and progress to you:

1. After you have placed your order you will receive an automatic "Order Confirmation" email stating your order has been successfully placed, your payment has been processed successfully, and we have received it (your order) here in the system. It will detail the items you have ordered and any personalisation details, quantities, and your delivery address details etc..

2. You will at some point after, received a 2nd "Order Being Manufactured" email. This is triggered by us manually and means that your order (or parts of it) are now in production and your order cannot be changed or edited. NOTE: If your order contains ID badges it will still be shipped out as part of the badge production schedule.

3. When your order has been completed, packed and shipped you'll receive the final automated "Completed" email, which is triggered by our integrated postal management system, and will also contain your tracking information. If for any reason we have had to process your order manually, we will send you a separate email with your tracking reference.

Please be aware it might be a few days, or even a week or two between "Order Being Manufactured" and "Completed" status updates - this is completely dependant on the items in your order and when you order.
For security the online ordering system was not set up with a blanket ‘use all countries’ setting in the shipping section. Most countries are listed but if for some reason your country is not, simply contact us here and request that it be added.
Yes you can – in the checkout there is the facility to enter a different delivery address from your standard account/billing address. Please use this facility rather than adding a different address in the notes section, as the address labelling system only picks up the ‘Delivery Address’ from the database, not the notes.
All ID badges are on set monthly production runs (please click here to see current run info), whereas kit box plates and other items are made to order and then dispatched as soon as possible, normally within 10 working days of ordering depending on the workload at that time.  You can by all means order ID badges along with other items, however you should note that your complete order will then be fulfilled as part of the ID badge run, in one delivery, and not shipped as individual items.

Please place a separate order for these other items to your ID badge order. These will then be processed as a completely separate order by us, made and shipped out separate to the scheduled badge production run.

To clarify:

  • If you are ordering ID badges and other items and are happy to wait for the ID badge production run for everything, then simply order everything as normal in one order. Your items will be delivered in 1 delivery for that particular production run.
  • If you are ordering ID badges and other items but need/want your kit box plates, discs, coasters etc.. sooner i.e. BEFORE the ID badge production run is completed, you must order your ID badge(s), complete that order and check out, then place a separate order for your other items such as kit box plates, discs and coasters etc.. We will then process these two orders separately and dispatch the non ID badge items ASAP.
For your peace of mind we have an SSL certificate on our website to encrypt all the information you enter on your keyboard/keypad into your order or enquiry form, and furthermore, we don’t even see or store your credit/debit card details or PayPal account details on our system. All payment processing is controlled, secured, and processed by PayPal’s secure system on their network, not ours. No credit card details or payment processing is handled or seen on our website or our server.
Only members of The 501st Legion and any of the associated Garrisons, Squads, Outposts, Detachments; members of Rebel Legion and its bases, and The Dark Empire are permitted to access this section of the website and order customised plates and/or purchase official merch.
No problem. Simply drop me a line using the contact form clearly stating you wish to be removed from the system (quoting your last order reference and PayPal reference for ID purposes) and I will remove you from the ordering database as soon as your order has been processed. Please note we will have to retain certain records here for financial, taxation and accountancy purposes, but your details will be removed from the online ordering system as requested.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

We only ship or post using tracked mail and parcel services - sorry but we do not offer un-tracked shipping or postal options anymore.

International orders: International Tracked (Royal Mail or Parcel Force depending on the size of your order, with end to end tracking and proof of delivery)

UK orders: Tracked and Insured using Royal Mail Tracked 48 (end to end tracking and proof of delivery)

  • UK orders should be received approx 48 hours after dispatch.
  • Europe should be 5-7 working days from dispatch.
  • All other countries should allow 7-12 working days from dispatch.

IMPORTANT – These are the ‘stated delivery aims’ from the postal/carrier companies, and do not include the day of dispatch, weekends or bank holidays, and more importantly are not guaranteed, and can take up to 25 days in some rare instances. Actual delivery times will vary depending on whereabouts you are in the world and your local postal service once the parcel lands in your country, but these are the average timescales.

IMPORTANT – Please be aware that we cannot accept nor can we submit on your behalf any claim to Royal Mail for non delivery / missing parcel until the 26th working day from the date of dispatch. If your parcel has not arrived within or by the stated delivery aim as detailed above, we apologise but you will need to be patience and initially take it up with your local postal services provider to see if they can help, until the 25th working day timeline has passed.

Please note that as clearly stated in our T’s & C’s the Customer is solely responsible for any additional duty, taxes, or fees that may be applied to the shipment on delivery to the Customer by any authorities and/or shipment provider.

This is covered in detail (and in a more legal and accurate speak) in our Terms & Conditions – please ensure you read these before ordering, but in brief, you must report any damage within 48 hours of delivery.

1. PACKAGING DAMAGED RESULTING IN PRODUCT DAMAGE: We go to great lengths to ensure that the packing we use and how we pack our items will best protect your plates and merch in transit, however we cannot be held responsible for the delivery services handling of your parcel once it has left us. If your parcel is damaged and you have a tracked service please pursue this with your delivery provider and use the tacking ID you have been given by us.

2. PACKAGING FINE BUT PRODUCT DAMAGED: This would be highly irregular. Our in-house QC process ensures that every product leaves here in perfect condition. All items are visually checked and inspected by us before packing. That said, if in the unusual situation that your item is damaged, again this must be reported within 48 hours and we will contact you to address/rectify this.

It is a requirement of all tracked orders (UK and overseas) to provide the carriers with a contact number for the recipient, and we have been asked many times to provide a contact number for items should there be an issue in trying to deliver normal post too. To that end our system now automatically prints your phone number as provided in your order on your address label as standard.
Sorry, no. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations (which replaces the Distance Selling Regulations Act) anything that has been made to order, customised, branded, coloured, engraved, baked, tailored, painted etc.. specifically for a customer cannot be returned for a refund as the item in question is completely unique to that customer i.e. it is not an ‘off the shelf stock item’ that can simply be returned to stock.
Sorry, no. Once a plate set has been cut and made for you, it is unique to you regardless of the size (see answer above). We have gone to great lengths to ensure that there is plenty of visual information, text descriptions and details on each product page to ensure that you can order the correct plate for your kit box. Please read everything and check the spec of the plate(s) you are interesting in before ordering, and if you have any questions please open the chat window if we are online, or drop us a message BEFORE ordering.

AFTER CARE

FOR GUIDANCE ONLY. I have used **E6000 glue for mine in the past and this appears to work fine for me, as it is slightly flexible, allows for re-positioning whilst placing, and will bond most surfaces extremely well. Remove any stickers, nameplates, badges etc… so that you are bonding directly to the box material. We suggest lightly sanding or scoring the back of the plate(s) and the surface of the box where the plate(s) will be fixed, to provide a key and remove and surface preparations, coatings, oils, shine etc… Use small ‘blobs’ or a thin bead of E6000 rather than a whole covering as you many find excessive coverage might result in a chemical reaction and the plate or box material warping. Tape into place if vertical, or weigh down if horizontal, until the E6000 has completely set/cured. You can download our plate fixing datasheet HERE.

Some people use heavy duty double sided tape, and some have even used Velcro. You could also drill and use pop rivets or self tapping screws, small nut & bolts etc… for a more industrial look. In any case, the chosen method of fixing your plates to your kit box is down to you and your personal preference.

**UPDATE 2021: E6000 (certainly in the UK) has changed in recent years due to H&S requirements and I have been informed by some customers that Gorilla Contact Adhesive Clear is a suitable replacement.

We use, and recommend IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol… not the beer!). This is a widely used cleaning and surface preparation solution used in medical, engineering, manufacturing, IT, healthcare, and sign making professions. It will clean surfaces of grease and marks and evaporates to leave the surface clean and dry. It is available in 70% and 99% (almost pure) versions as swabs, wipes, sprays and solutions from auto supply shops, chemists, and on line. We use the 99% version.  You can download our cleaning and care datasheet HERE.

Alternatively a kitchen surface or floor ‘wet wipe’ (the kind already soaked with a cleaning solution and sold in resealable packets in supermarkets) would do, but ensure there is no bleach, alcohol or colouring agents, and wipe dry with a soft lint-free cloth after cleaning.
